What to Expect After Permanent Makeup in Bangkok: Color Changes & Peace of Mind for Travelers
Hi — I'm Pui, the artist behind N&Beauty here in Bangkok. Travelers often message me after their session asking about how the color is changing — first-timers especially are surprised when it looks darker after a few days, or lighter than expected later on. On this page, I've put together what actually happens to the color as it settles, how I think about the trade-off between a natural look and long-lasting results, and what to know if you have an MRI scheduled. Brows, lips, eyeliner — whatever you choose, the color and shape will change in the days after your first session. That's normal, not a mistake.
A good way to think about it: your first session builds the foundation, and a second session (a touch-up) is what settles the color and design. Most of our clients feel fully happy with their results after that second visit.

The color changes to expect, day by day
"It went darker overnight" and "it looks like it's fading" are both things almost everyone experiences. Knowing the pattern in advance takes a lot of the worry out of it.
- Right after your session: often looks very natural
- Day 2–3: many people feel the color looks darker
- About 1 week: color starts to settle in and look calmer
- Around 3 weeks: if pigment was applied lightly, this is when it can fade further; otherwise, this is usually when results settle
Natural and light vs. long-lasting — finding the balance
A lot of our clients want their brows to look as natural and subtle as possible. That instinct makes complete sense, and it matters to us too.
At the same time, a very light first session can sometimes feel like it hasn't fully taken. For travelers with a limited stay, we sometimes suggest Combo brows (Microblading plus Powder shading) — it tends to hold color better after a single session.

About MRI scans: today's permanent makeup isn't the old-style brow tattoo
This comes up often enough that I want to address it upfront.
Today's permanent makeup uses different pigments and techniques than old-style brow tattoos, and is generally considered MRI-compatible. At N&Beauty, we use EU-regulated PhiBrows pigments, and we can provide an SDS (Safety Data Sheet) for you to show your doctor if needed.
That said, always tell your doctor you have permanent makeup before an MRI. If you have eyeliner permanent makeup, you may be asked to keep your eyes closed during the scan.
For travelers: your free retouch window is extended to 3 months
Normally, our free retouch window is one month from your first session. But for travelers, coming back to Bangkok within a month often isn't realistic.
So for travelers, we extend that free retouch window to three months. Once the color has settled a little, a touch-up refines the design and fills in any lighter areas. Because appointment availability varies, please reach out on WhatsApp so we can find a time that works.

Brow sessions run about 2 hours
Timing varies person to person, but we spend real time on the design consultation.
We sketch and compare a few design options with you, because how something looks on your own face is something photos alone can't tell you.

A few questions I'm often asked
It's not a one-session process. Usually, the first session builds the foundation, and a second session (touch-up) settles the color and design. A touch-up is THB 2,500 within one year of your first session, and can be booked from three months after.
Very much so. Most people notice it looking darker around day 2–3, then settling in over about a week. If pigment was applied lightly, it can fade further by around 3 weeks. If you're worried, send a photo on WhatsApp and I'll take a look.
